100 things about me.

100 Things About Me

1. I was born in Gouldings, Utah on Jan. 11, 1982.

2. Gouldings is less than 10 miles away from the famous Monument Valley (the landscape scenary for a lot of Westerns and John Wayne movies) which may explain why it is one of my most favorite places on earth.

3. I am the first born child which basically means I am both responsible and mature--and made my brother and sister my slaves until I left the nest for college.

4. I am a Navajo girl who lived my first 18.5 years on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona.

5. Yes, I am full blooded Navajo.

6. No, you cannot touch my hair.

7. And I have never ever lived in a tipi.

8. I have a one-inch scar on the left side of my head near my hairline that I received when I ran into the sharp corner of a door frame as a 3-year old child.

9. I tend to pet my scar with my finger when I'm deep in thought or stressed when taking an exam. I think it's a habit now.

10. I have "rez knees" too. This just means that they are all scarred up from falling down all the time.

11. I wore braces for 2 years. Thank goodness for them because before then, my teeth and bite were a trainwreck.

12. I am convinced that my beloved mutt, Kimi, who died in 2000 is my guardian angel and I can sometimes hear the pitter-patter of paws following me when I run.

13. I was a three-time spelling bee champ at my elementary school in 1990, 1991, and 1992.

14. My first name is really Carmenlita. I hated it as a kid because it was too long to spell.

15. I was born without a middle name but am in the process of adding one to my legal name.

16. It will be Nazbah, which was my maternal grandmother's Navajo name and if I am correct it means "woman who prepares for war".

17. I don't like olives and I never will.

18. I love music. I will spend hours in a record store and waste my money on albums.

30. I think I was the typical ugly duckling-beautiful swan story as I matured.

31. My favorite fruit is watermelon. I could eat a big one all by myself.
