kinda slacking

Heebus Geebus!
Boy am I sore. These are times that I like to tell people that I'm a "hellasaurus". Nope, I'm not a Homo sapien or whatever, I'm a hellasaurus. As in--hella sore? Get it?

Anyhow, I forgot to note a couple of things.
What use is a running blog unless I actually type in it?

Wednesday 9/21
I dragged myself outta bed in the morning to run 2 miles. I noted in my personal blog that morning runs are hella more difficult than evening jogs are. All that unnecessary huffing and puffing! The hot Phoenix sun beating down on me. My "glow" dripping all over the streets of Tempe. Ugh.

Later that evening, I was able to force myself to jog and jog until I could no longer jog anymore. The result? 3.7 miles.
Not bad, not bad at all but I think I need to stop pushing myself so hard as this is only my second week of running and previous to this, I hadn't run consistently for more than a couple of months. Still, I must say that I am terribly proud of my persistence and commitment thus far. The 1/2 marathon doesn't seem all that menacing anymore.

So in totality, I ran 5.7 miles.
Rock on tall chica!

Saturday 9/17
It was a lazy day.
I was only able to do 25 minutes on the elliptical machine. I walked around for three hours at the mall with the fiance'. Whew!

Then to top it off, we jogged together along our usual route. I was able to jog at least 2.3 miles before I decided to call it quits for the day and proceeded to walk the rest of the route with fiance'.

------------------
Tonight I am supposed to get on the elliptical machine for at least 30 minutes. I am so sore from so much jogging yesterday that I don't know if I will go to the gym. I ought to--just to ease this soreness.

Tomorrow is my day off. Yippee!

This coming Saturday is the big run. I will attempt to run 5 miles straight. This will be a big feat for me. So wish me strength! This FAT GIRL is going to need it!

day 1- 1/2 marathon training

Over the weekend I made a declaration that I would run in this coming PF Chang's Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon. The thing is held in January so it's a relatively short time that I have to train for the thing--roughly 3.5 months.

I figure that I could be running 5 miles by my 3rd or 4th week and then from there I would gradually increase the milage until I hit 13 and some miles. I was supposed to start training on Monday but I had a discussion to prepare for on Tuesday for one of my classes so I had to scratch that. I did, however, start this evening.

I haven't been able to run 3 miles straight for some time now. Maybe like half a year or something like that to be exact. But I did that tonight--and more! I just kept pushing and pushing and before I knew it I had run 3.3 miles. Not too shabby for a gal who could barely eek out 2.3 miles straight about a month ago. I was really excited when I got home and tracked the distance I ran, online.

I felt so incredibly good. It was a great feeling to know that I actually had that in me. The odd thing was that I had enough stamina to run at least another 0.5 miles or so but I deemed it wise if I didn't try so hard on my first night out.

The only disappointment I did have was in finding out that my 5k time had increased substantially. A whopping 4 minutes longer!! I'm going to have to work on that. A friend of mine let me know about a 5k this weekend so I'm strongly considering running it and getting back into the swing of things.

Anyhow--that was day 1 of training.
Not too shabby, Chief, not too shabby!
